Woodgate opened in 1953 as two separate schools. Woodgate Junior and Woodgate Infant School.

The Junior and Infant schools were amalgamated in 1964 and renamed Woodgate Junior and Infant School.
In 2003 the school had its name changed for the final time to Woodgate Primary School, which is as it is known today.

The provision at Woodgate Primary School takes account of every aspect of a child's development. The curriculum gives children the opportunity to achieve the highest possible standards of numeracy and literacy whilst ensuring they can become confident in physical, artistic, practical and social skills.
