Teaching ServiceLeumeah High School is a large, co-educational, comprehensive school in South Western Sydney . Leumeah High School has a current enrolment of 750 students with approximately 45% of students possess a language background other than English and an additional 7% identify as Indigenous. The school FOEI in 2020 was 127. Over the past five years the school has been recognised for its strong pastoral care with its best practice implementation of PBIS. The school possesses a strong, committed and dedicated staff who have worked hard to improve the quality of teaching with staff reflecting on evidence and current pedagogical changes and research-based practices combined with a meaningful implementation of the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers being school priorities for professional learning.
There is a broad academic curriculum, with futures focused learning at its core. All students in Years 7 & 8 are equipped with iPads, with this to be phased in to all years by 2023. Faculties are driving the implementation of innovative pedagogical processes designed to enhance the capacity of each of our students to function in an ever-changing digital world. Student leadership is supported and encouraged through an active student representative council and in the arts, sports and school service.
- Approval to teach English 7-12 and demonstrated capacity to teach English Extension 1 and 2.
- Demonstrated ability to lead staff in the creation of creative and innovative teaching practices with a focus on integrating technology into the curriculum to meet the needs of a diverse range of students.
- Proven ability to work as part of the school executive leading a cycle of continuous improvement including the development of whole school literacy strategies.
- Highly developed interpersonal and instructional leadership skills, with demonstrated capacity to lead and manage a faculty with diverse expertise and experience.
An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.
