Position Information 
Macquarie Fields High School is situated on Dharawal land and is a large inclusive secondary school with 1132 students in comprehensive, selective stream and Special Education classes. The school is culturally and linguistically diverse with 85% of students having language backgrounds other than English and 23 students of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander background.
The school is committed to extending all its students within a culture that values high achievement, positive relationships and excellence in teaching and learning. The school's distinctive nature and outstanding achievements in academic, sporting and extra-curricular pursuits mark it as a learning community that offers its students and teachers rich opportunities for leadership, quality learning and enhanced outcomes. This demonstrated commitment to excellence is supported by a broad and differentiated curriculum, progressive wellbeing practices and quality professional learning. Macquarie Fields High School is also a Professional Experience (PEx) Hub that supports other schools to work together with pre-service teachers and their universities to create an environment of professional learning for those who are coming into the teaching profession.
  
Specific Selection Criteria 
Applicants must satisfy the teacher training and academic qualification requirements for this position. In addition to the general selection criteria, 
  1. Demonstrated ability to support the development of innovative teaching and learning programs and practices in light of the new curriculum, to cater for the diversity of students at Macquarie Fields High School.
  2. High level interpersonal and communication skills with the capacity to lead and engage a collaborative team, building positive, inclusive, trusting relationships with students, parents, staff, external agencies, and the wider community.
  3. Ability to be a dynamic member of the executive leadership team and lead initiatives that address whole school strategic directions and nurture positive, quality relationships across the school and its wider community.
  4. Demonstrated ability to support staff to improve their capacity for data analysis of student growth and achievement, effective differentiation of curriculum and successfully engaging a diverse range of students in teaching and learning programs.
  
General Selection Criteria 
1. Successful teaching experience with capacity to initiate improvement in teaching, learning and classroom practice
2. Knowledge of curriculum, assessment and student welfare with the ability to lead and design quality, inclusive teaching and learning programs
3. Educational leadership skills to build the capacity and manage the performance of individuals and teams
4. Well developed communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build relationships and engage students, staff and parents
5. Ability to plan and manage resources effectively and equitably to support teaching and learning
6. Knowledge of and commitment to the Department's Aboriginal education policies
 
Conditions 

An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.
