Position Information 

Pennant Hills High School, with an enrolment of 1089 students, is a large, coeducational, comprehensive high school, which holds a key position in its local community. The school is held in high regard by both the local and wider community for achieving academic excellence, providing a broad, deep range of curriculum enrichment opportunities and producing high quality educational outcomes in all areas. There is a proud tradition of high involvement and achievement in sport and cultural pursuits, and the broad curriculum choice across all stages ensure high levels of student engagement. The school prides itself on its strong culture of positive relationships between staff, students and parents, which works cohesively to maintain a stimulating and rich learning environment in which all students are supported and encouraged to achieve their personal best. Excellent structures exist which support student wellbeing, including a merit scheme to recognise and promote student achievement. A Positive Behaviour for Learning (PBL) program, based on the established core values of responsibility, integrity and achievement exists. There is a particularly strong focus on developing student leadership capacity through an active Student Leadership Council. The school fosters and develops the capacities of all students, including the provision of a High Potential and Gifted education program. Flexible learning is fostered through a learning hub facility which integrates flexible learning spaces to facilitate project-based learning. Students are taught in a technology rich environment by enthusiastic, experienced and committed staff, who continue to be enhanced through focused teacher professional learning. A Special Education Faculty caters for students with mild or moderate intellectual and physical disabilities. There is a strong culture of inclusivity of students with a disability within the school.

  
Specific Selection Criteria 
Applicants must satisfy the teacher training and academic qualification requirements for this position. In addition to the general selection criteria, 
  • Approval to teach Food Technology and/or Textiles and Design. Capacity to deliver Stage 4 Technology Mandatory across the four context areas.
  • Demonstrated capacity to lead a diverse faculty to improve student outcomes across Stages 4-6 by implementing high quality teaching, learning and assessment programs that focus on high expectations, explicit teaching & effective feedback.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively as a member of the school executive team developing and refining whole school registration process in line with NESA and Department of Education requirements.
  • Highly developed interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively with staff, supervising and monitoring NESA Teacher Accreditation processes. Including those teachers seeking higher levels of accreditation
  • Demonstrated capacity to further develop effective partnerships with our partner primary schools.
 
  
General Selection Criteria 
1. Successful teaching experience with capacity to initiate improvement in teaching, learning and classroom practice
2. Knowledge of curriculum, assessment and student welfare with the ability to lead and design quality, inclusive teaching and learning programs
3. Educational leadership skills to build the capacity and manage the performance of individuals and teams
4. Well developed communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build relationships and engage students, staff and parents
5. Ability to plan and manage resources effectively and equitably to support teaching and learning
6. Knowledge of and commitment to the Department's Aboriginal education policies

An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.
