Adel Beck is a 24 bedded Secure Children’s Home licensed by the Department for Education (DfE) on behalf of the Secretary of State, inspected by the Office for Education, Children’s Services and Skills (OfSTED), managed by Leeds City Council, Children’s Services and monitored by the Youth Justice Board (England and Wales).The overall performance of the home is currently judged by OfSTED as OUTSTANDING.

We provide on-site Care, Education, Offending Behaviour Interventions and Personal Development to young people (males and females) aged between 10 - 18 who have been remanded or sentenced by a court or whose behaviour cannot be managed in any other form of accommodation. These services are supported by on-site Business Support, Speech and Language Therapy, NHS Primary Care and both Forensic and Clinical Psychology and Psychiatric services (CAMHS).

This is an exciting time for the Education service at Adel Beck: in the course of two subsequent annual inspections, we have gone from Requires Improvement to Good and are now aspiring towards Outstanding. We are now seeking to appoint a new Head teacher who will build on the Education Team’s many strengths and further enhance teaching and learning so that every pupil makes the very best progress at all times. We are looking for a Head teacher who is excited by the potential of Education at Adel Beck and can provide the outstanding leadership to lead the school to even greater success in the future.

If you are an ambitious senior leader with a successful track record of sustained improvement, able to engage and use external educational partners and stakeholders to assist in service development at Adel Beck and believe in the principle that “good enough is not good enough”, then this role offers an excellent opportunity to challenge yourself in a new environment.

You will need to be an inspirational and dynamic senior leader who is committed to the challenge of working with vulnerable young people within a multi-disciplinary environment. You should have the creativity and vision to inspire and lead change but also the focus to ensure successful outcomes are reached. You must be confident and approachable, with an optimistic ‘solution focussed” attitude and have the skills to lead, build, and motivate an effective team and to be a key member of the homes multi-disciplinary Strategic Leadership Team.
