Want to make a difference?
This is a more unusual opportunity.
We are a small, friendly, International school that is currently transitioning to a British Curriculum, with a longer established sister campus in Yangon and have the capacity to double our current enrolment of 200.
The school has a pyramid shaped larger Primary/smaller Secondary which we intend to balance by broadening our IGCSE provision to up to 10 subjects and also by developing our ECA and leadership opportunities. This is a role that would therefore suit a forward thinking, imaginative and systematic self-starter who enjoys building something that will last and that makes a real impression on children, parents, staff and community in a country that is rapidly evolving.
If you are a professional, enthusiastic and heart-driven team player, comfortable with yourself and others - including parents – and someone who can really work well with our local staff to lead them to a more student- centred, activity based methodology whilst also being able to adapt to a different culture yourself, why not consider joining us here in The Golden Land? We seek well- adjusted, honest and reliable individuals who possess a wholesome attitude to life and other people, who can fully engage with what we do in and outside the classroom, and who can do it with a sense of humour.
This is also a role that might suit one partner of a teaching couple as we are also appointing a Deputy Head to lead the Primary School.
A UK National Curriculum English or EAL subject specialist with an ability to teach or lead at least one additional subject such as Literature, History, Geography or Business Studies would have a distinct advantage.
Before we go any further - a word about Mandalay. It is hot, dusty and busy but there is not so much to do other than use it as a base to explore the country and the region. That said, it is now changing every day. People are polite and friendly and it is one of the few genuinely Asian cities left (there are no recogniseable chain retailers or fast food outlets here – yet).
We also offer small classes, delightful students, return flights to/from Myanmar, medical insurance, free quality accommodation, optional maid service, up to 50 days’ annual leave and a good local (tax free) salary that makes it very easy to save.
If all this this resonates with you, please see full details on http://www.myanmareducationservice.com/index.php/en/recruitment and send a cover letter and full CV and details of two referees to firstname.lastname@example.org no later than Friday 27th March.
We would like to Skype interview suitable candidates soon after we have received your application.
