Kelso High Campus of Denison College is located in Bathurst, a large regional centre in the Central West of New South Wales, three-hours drive from the Sydney CBD. Kelso High Campus forms an innovative college structure with Bathurst High Campus as part of the Denison College of Secondary Education. Kelso High Campus is a comprehensive secondary school with an enrolment of 840 students, including 140 Aboriginal students and a Support Unit meeting the needs of 72 students across 9 classes.

 

Kelso High Campus has three identified strategic directions: Growth and Attainment, Rigour and High Expectations and Partnerships and Collaboration. There is an emphasis on a deep and shared understanding of the individual needs and backgrounds of students and families, supported by positive relationships between staff, students and families, and teaching and learning that is aligned to student learning data and is responsive to student needs.

We aim to provide opportunities for all students through high quality, explicit teaching that supports our students to build strong foundations and be proud and successful learners.

Specific Selection Criteria 
Applicants must satisfy the teacher training and academic qualification requirements for this position. In addition to the general selection criteria, 
  • Approval to teach mathematics 7-12 with a demonstrated capacity to lead a faculty in the delivery of quality, inclusive and differentiated teaching and learning programs that cater to the needs of all students, including high potential and gifted students, students who require learning support and students from low SES backgrounds.

 

  • Demonstrated capacity to develop and work collaboratively as a member of the executive team to build a culture of high expectations for staff performance and student achievement, including the implementation of campus and college strategic priorities through faculty planning and professional learning.

  • Demonstrated capacity to supervise and lead a mathematics faculty team with diverse skills and experience, to nurture personal wellbeing and foster positive collaboration and excellence.
  
General Selection Criteria 
1. Successful teaching experience with capacity to initiate improvement in teaching, learning and classroom practice
2. Knowledge of curriculum, assessment and student welfare with the ability to lead and design quality, inclusive teaching and learning programs
3. Educational leadership skills to build the capacity and manage the performance of individuals and teams
4. Well developed communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build relationships and engage students, staff and parents
5. Ability to plan and manage resources effectively and equitably to support teaching and learning
6. Knowledge of and commitment to the Department's Aboriginal education policies
 
Conditions 

An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.
