Position Information 

Great Lakes College Forster Campus is one of the two 7-10 campuses that, with the Senior Campus, form Great Lakes College. The student population has hovered around 600 in the last three years, inclusive of an average of 90 Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander students.

The Campus offers a high-quality education in a young adolescent learning environment, where wellbeing programs provide the support for every child's learning success. The Campus has a large support unit comprising of six classes: two emotional disturbance (ED) classes, one mild intellectual (IM), one behaviour difficulties (BD/Tut), one autism (Au) and one multi-categorical class (MC). These classes are staffed with highly trained expert teachers and SLSOs.

Forster Campus enjoys strong links with the local Aboriginal community and is supported by its representatives. It is also fully supported by the Great Lakes College Parents and Citizens Association. Forster Campus is a part of the strong Great Lakes Learning Community which works collaboratively to provide opportunities for all young people to learn and grow together within a seamless educational journey.

  
Specific Selection Criteria 
Applicants must satisfy the teacher training and academic qualification requirements for this position. In addition to the general selection criteria: 
  1. Approval and demonstrated capacity to teach Mathematics 7-10 and to lead staff in the delivery of Mathematics courses.
  2. Demonstrated capacity to lead teachers in developing and implementing high quality teaching and learning programs, assessment tasks and learning experiences that are engaging and differentiated to improve student achievement for students of all abilities, including students with an Aboriginal background
  3. Ability to work collaboratively with the executive team to lead, manage and implement whole school initiatives that support delivery of the 2021-2024 Strategic Improvement Plan. 
  4. Proven capacity to build positive relationships and engagement across the school community which help to create a vibrant and positive school culture of respect and learning. 
  
General Selection Criteria 
1. Successful teaching experience with capacity to initiate improvement in teaching, learning and classroom practice
2. Knowledge of curriculum, assessment and student welfare with the ability to lead and design quality, inclusive teaching and learning programs
3. Educational leadership skills to build the capacity and manage the performance of individuals and teams
4. Well developed communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build relationships and engage students, staff and parents
5. Ability to plan and manage resources effectively and equitably to support teaching and learning
6. Knowledge of and commitment to the Department's Aboriginal education policies
 
Conditions 

An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.
