Position Information 

Terrigal High School is a leading comprehensive, co-educational secondary school on the Central Coast. The school has a student population of 977, including a Support Unit with three multi-categorical classes. The school reflects the diversity of the local community with a full range of socio-economic and educational backgrounds. The school's enrolment numbers are increasing across all year groups. EALD support is provided to 2% of the total student enrolment. The school is located on Darkinjung land with 5% of the total student population identifying Aboriginal heritage. The school has a close partnership with the local Kuriwa AECG to enhance Aboriginal cultural programs for all students and staff to address the needs of Aboriginal students.

Terrigal High School has placed student centred, evidence-based practice at the core of all teaching and learning programs. We are focused on increasing student growth across stages 4 and 5 in Literacy and Numeracy, with the promotion of high quality HSC attainment for all students undertaking ATAR and vocational courses. 

At Terrigal High School we believe in excellence in all aspects of our school life. The school is committed to supporting student wellbeing through a diverse range of programs and the establishment of a wellbeing hub. Students are involved in a range of leadership and social awareness programs as well as student voice opportunities to influence current and future initiatives. Terrigal High School has a strong sporting achievement and  forged respectful and collaborative relationships with wider school community through regular parent and student forums and surveys, and a  strong partnership with Terrigal Public School and Erina Heights Public School forming the Terrigal Learning Alliance, to ensure continuity of learning from kindergarten to Year 12.

  
Specific Selection Criteria 
Applicants must satisfy the teacher training and academic qualification requirements for this position. In addition to the general selection criteria, approval to teach Mathematics 7 to 12.
  1. Demonstrated knowledge and ability to lead and support teachers in developing and implementing high quality programs, assessment tasks and learning experiences that are engaging and differentiated to meet the needs of all learners.
  2. Highly developed capacity and interpersonal skills to lead change based on an understanding of current pedagogical and evidence-informed practices for teachers with a diverse range of skills and experiences.
  3. Demonstrated capacity to strategically lead professional learning, planning and improvement processes to support the attainment of system negotiated targets within faculty and across the school.
  4. Capacity to work collaboratively with the executive team to analyse data, lead, manage and implement whole school processes and initiatives that support the school’s strategic directions.
  
General Selection Criteria 
1. Successful teaching experience with capacity to initiate improvement in teaching, learning and classroom practice
2. Knowledge of curriculum, assessment and student welfare with the ability to lead and design quality, inclusive teaching and learning programs
3. Educational leadership skills to build the capacity and manage the performance of individuals and teams
4. Well developed communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build relationships and engage students, staff and parents
5. Ability to plan and manage resources effectively and equitably to support teaching and learning
6. Knowledge of and commitment to the Department's Aboriginal education policies

An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.
