From 1 September 2023

The Kimberley School is a popular, oversubscribed and large 11-18 school and sixth form located in the town of Kimberley, Nottinghamshire and a member of The East Midlands Education Trust. The school is within easy reach of Nottingham City Centre with good access to J26 of the M1, offering direct connection south to Leicester or north to Sheffield.

The Kimberley School was judged by Ofsted as continuing to be a Good school in an ungraded inspection in September 2022.

Following on from the very successful leadership of the existing Headteacher, we are looking for an inspirational and highly organised leader with a proven track record of success, who can provide strong, purposeful and strategic leadership to enable all students and staff to excel.

You must be a qualified teacher who will be a strong and confident advocate for the school in order to build upon the already excellent reputation. Previous experience as a Deputy Headteacher, Head of School or Headteacher, and a proven track record of successful whole school improvement are essential.

If you would like to arrange an informal discussion about this exciting opportunity with Lisa Walton, Deputy CEO, please email lwalton@emet.uk.com to arrange a mutually convenient time.

The successful candidate will have to meet the requirements of the person specification in order to be offered the post, will be required to undergo a full enhanced DBS check and must be eligible to work in the UK. The Trust is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. Safeguarding checks will be undertaken during the recruitment process and this may include online searches.

We welcome applications regardless of age, gender, ethnicity or religion.

Values and vision

The Kimberley School focuses on delivering strong academic results. It is a tolerant and welcoming place of learning that promotes traditional values, a sense of belonging and good student behaviour.

There have been a number of developments for school facilities over the years, most notably the introduction of a design and technology building in 2002, and an arts block with drama studio and media studies room in 2005. There are also high-quality facilities for sport, with playing fields, hockey pitches and a large leisure centre on-site.

Ofsted report

“Governors have a good understanding of the school’s performance and they drive improvement by challenging leaders strongly. The quality of teaching is improving because leaders have introduced good strategies to support it. Reading is being promoted well throughout the school [and] students feel safe in school.”
