Position Information 

Alexandria Park Community School is a proud and vibrant Kindergarten to Year 12 community school. Our student enrolment totals 1053, with 527 students in the primary and 526 students in the secondary school, with 42% from language backgrounds other than English and 17% are Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander students. The school has an Opportunity Class in Year 5 and Year 6 and a Selective Stream in Year 7 to Year 10 for gifted and high potential students. We have strong and authentic links with the community. Our families are supportive and engaged in all aspects of the school. 

The school has a strategic focus on continuous improvement in literacy, numeracy and quality curriculum implementation and teaching. Teacher performance and development focus on high quality research based professional learning opportunities which enhance teacher leadership, collaboration and future-focused learning. Positive behaviour for learning (PBL) underpins our systematic approach to student wellbeing and learning from K-12, ensuring our students and community are committed to learning, respect and safety.

Alexandria Park Community School moved into Phase One of a rebuild in Term 4 2020. The new build includes flexible, future-focused learning spaces which further enhance innovative and engaging teaching practices and provide specialist facilities for a range of K-12 programs.  Phase 2 is due for completion and occupancy early in 2022.

Specific Selection Criteria 
Applicants must satisfy the teacher training and academic qualification requirements for this position. In addition to the general selection criteria,  1.     Approval to teach Science Years 7-10, approval to teach Physics.  2.     Demonstrated strong interpersonal communication, organisational and administrative skills to lead and promote a cohesive, dynamic Science and TAS team.    3.     Expert curriculum knowledge with the ability to lead faculty members to develop and implement, faculty wide future focused programs that address the needs of a diverse student body.     4.     Demonstrated skills and abilities to collaborate and lead initiatives that support the school’s vision and strategic directions as a dynamic member of the executive team.​
 
  
General Selection Criteria 
1. Successful teaching experience with capacity to initiate improvement in teaching, learning and classroom practice
2. Knowledge of curriculum, assessment and student welfare with the ability to lead and design quality, inclusive teaching and learning programs
3. Educational leadership skills to build the capacity and manage the performance of individuals and teams
4. Well developed communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build relationships and engage students, staff and parents
5. Ability to plan and manage resources effectively and equitably to support teaching and learning
6. Knowledge of and commitment to the Department's Aboriginal education policies
 
Conditions 

An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.
