Job overview

Ref: PRI13485

Are you a qualified teacher with outstanding relationship-building skills and proven ability to inspire exceptional performance in pupils and colleagues alike? Do you have what it takes to deliver exceptional standards in the provision of specialist education? And are you ready to put your professional stamp on one of the most innovative schools of its kind?

Then you could fit in perfectly at North Hill House School in Frome.

Set in its own grounds near Frome town centre, North Hill House is an independent specialist day and residential school for children and young people aged 6 to 19 years with high functioning autistic spectrum disorders including Asperger’s Syndrome and associated difficulties. Our pupils have ambitions to live and work as self-reliant adults and we know that we can help them achieve their goals with the right support, structure, guidance and encouragement.

As Head Teacher, you will do more than just maintain a positive and enthusiastic learning environment. You will manage the development and implementation of the curriculum and education programmes, drive the process of continuous improvement, ensure the effective use of self-assessment methods and, of course, lead our multi-disciplinary team from the front.

A qualified teacher – and preferably holding an NPQH - you will demonstrate a wide range of SEN experience and have proven leadership and management experience. This will include proven ability to lead a broad and flexible curriculum from KS2 - KS5 so that we can offer support to all year groups. While specific experience of AS/ASD would be useful, it is not essential. Your teaching experience and post-graduate specialist qualifications must, however, be supported by a sound understanding of current legislation and regulations relating to education and care.

If you share our determination to achieve the best possible outcomes for all our pupils, we can promise you a collaborative culture, ongoing professional development and ample scope to use your creativity and initiative as part of a highly energised and supportive team. You will ideally be able to begin in September 2017, but we would still like to hear from you if you can’t start until January 2018.
