Teaching ServiceMacquarie Fields High School is situated on Dharawal land and is a large inclusive secondary school with over 1100 students in comprehensive and selective streams, and Special Education classes. The school is culturally and linguistically diverse with 84% of students having language backgrounds other than English and 26 students of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander background.

Macquarie Fields High School is also a Professional Experience Hub that supports other schools to work together with pre-service teachers and their universities to create an environment of professional learning for those who are coming into the teaching profession.
A comprehensive situational analysis has been conducted which led to the development of the 2021-2024 Strategic Improvement Plan, both of which involved consultation with students, staff and parents.
As a result, of the situational analysis Macquarie Fields High School has determined the following Three Strategic Directions:
Student Growth and Attainment, Staff growth and efficacy, School growth and partnerships
Approval to teach Special Education with expertise in teaching students with complex needs including those with Autism Spectrum Disorder and the associated challenges.
Demonstrated capacity to lead teachers in the development and implementation of flexible and innovative learning programs, that enhance student engagement and support the wellbeing of students within a special education setting.
Demonstrated high level interpersonal skills and the capacity to effectively communicate across all key stake holders within the school context, including students, parents, external agencies and the wider community, building a culture of inclusivity.
Demonstrated ability to work as a part of a dynamic and effective executive team with the capacity to lead change through strategic planning, at both the whole school and faculty level. This includes leading the development of staff and applying evaluative process’ to drive improvement.
An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.
