Position Information 

At West Wyalong High School we are committed to providing an inclusive environment that engages our students in becoming motivated, successful learners focusing on academic and social growth. Every student and every teacher will be challenged to improve every year.

West Wyalong High School is a comprehensive rural education school in the northwestern part of the Riverina, situated on the lands of the Wiradjuri people, 155 kms Northeast of Griffith. The school serves the town of West Wyalong and surrounding villages in the Bland Shire. The enrolment 7 to 12 has ranged between 265-310 over the past 5 years. In 2024 we have a population of 270 students of which 55 identify as having an Aboriginal background and 22 students are EAL/D.

  
Specific Selection Criteria 
Applicants must satisfy the teacher training and academic qualification requirements for this position.
In addition to the general selection criteria, 
  • Demonstrated capacity to work collaboratively with the executive team on whole school priorities.
  • Demonstrated understanding of the major Technological and Applied Studies (TAS) areas and successful achievement in their own specialist area.
  • Understanding the educational implications for schools meeting the needs of students from rural and low socio-economic communities.
  
General Selection Criteria 
1. Successful teaching experience with capacity to initiate improvement in teaching, learning and classroom practice
2. Knowledge of curriculum, assessment and student welfare with the ability to lead and design quality, inclusive teaching and learning programs
3. Educational leadership skills to build the capacity and manage the performance of individuals and teams
4. Well developed communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build relationships and engage students, staff and parents
5. Ability to plan and manage resources effectively and equitably to support teaching and learning
6. Knowledge of and commitment to the Department's Aboriginal education policy
 
Conditions 

An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.

 

 
Special Notes 

A Relocation support payment of $5,000 up to $8,000 will be available for eligible applicants.
