Job overview

Barclay Secondary School is a new 8FE school built on 11 acres of grounds in the Lea Valley and at the heart of the Waltham Forest and Hackney communities. Serving the vibrant and multi-cultural East London area, Barclay Secondary School will be a non-denominational, co-educational centre of excellence offering a STEM-based curriculum to the students and families it is set up to serve. Starting with 208 students in Year 7, the school will grow until fully occupied in 2023.

This once-in-a-career opportunity requires a level of passion, commitment and energy which will naturally limit the field of possible candidates - and the Trust is fully committed to finding the leader who best articulates and can evidence how these qualities and their own drive and focus will ensure this investment in education locally is the beacon for quality we expect it to be.

The Lion Education Trust is looking to recruit an outstanding, enthusiastic, innovative and committed Head Teacher to support the development of the new Secondary Free School and the continual improvement of the school through opening and the first Ofsted inspection. This will be alongside the Executive Principal, Director of Schools and the wider trust executive team. If you are excited by innovation and challenge, and if you are energised by opportunities to lead, develop and share your practice, whilst learning with your colleagues and from the children you work with, then we look forward to hearing from you.

The Lion Education Trust is made up of several schools in Waltham Forest, Haringey and Essex, that serve a multi-cultural community and all our schools are on a journey to being truly outstanding schools.

We can offer you:

  • Vibrant schools situated in a culturally diverse area of north London with all the rewards and opportunities this brings
  • Lively, friendly and aspirational children who are determined to make the most of their schooling
  • A dynamic and dedicated team of teachers and support staff who want the best for their children.
  • Innovative CPD which is of the highest quality.
  • Career progression and leadership opportunities
  • A supportive and forward thinking Trust Board, Parental Advisory Body and parent community.
  • Excellent opportunities for further professional development, through the Lion Education Trust.

We are seeking a Head Teacher to commence as soon as contractually possible – but by April 2017 at the latest.
