Job overview

The Gallery Trust is seeking an inspirational Head Teacher to lead Springfield School, a special school located in Witney, Oxfordshire, which meets the needs of over 100 pupils with a wide range of SEND.

The Gallery Trust is a Multi Academy Trust which is dedicated to improving outcomes for SEND learners in Oxfordshire. We strive to provide the best possible specialist learning experience for all pupils. As a Trust, we value powerful collaboration and knowledge sharing but fully celebrate the distinct ethos and individuality of our community of schools.

This is a fantastic opportunity to join the largest special MAT in the county at an incredibly exciting time, with two free special schools in the pre-opening stage.

About Springfield School

Springfield School is a special school for children aged 3 to 16, with a wide range of SEND including Severe, Profound and Complex Learning Difficulties. There are currently 104 pupils on roll. We recognise the importance of making learning vivid and real, as well as an enjoyable and challenging experience. Through focusing on individual needs and building on what our pupils already know, we develop appropriate skills for adult life.

There is a clear focus on communication alongside personal and social skills as these are fundamental to further development within other areas of learning. Springfield has a strong Positive Behaviour Support ethos: we value the time given to reflecting on individual pupil needs and working on strategies to promote engagement and quality of life. Springfield continues to develop their own Progression of Skills documents to reflect the achievement of the range of needs and abilities.

Springfield School has two sites, one for primary aged pupils and the other for secondary. Both sites are co-located with mainstream schools, with the primary classes sharing a building, shared spaces and corridors with a mainstream primary school. There are significant opportunities to promote a truly inclusive culture across the mainstream schools and Springfield School community.

About You

We are looking for an inspirational leader to pave the way for the school’s next chapter, ensuring that specialist teaching, care, and support is at the heart of everything we do. Naturally, you’ll bring a flair with developing high performing teams, with a proven ability to communicate vision with real clarity of direction. What is most important is your passion for raising standards for pupils with SEND and an unwavering belief in the potential of every pupil. In return we can offer you a genuine opportunity to carve out your leadership role within a supportive and growing MAT, unparalleled CPD, dedicated staff and most importantly, fantastic pupils.
