Headteacher

Chantry Middle School is a mixed, non-selective, non-denominational middle school situated in Morpeth, Northumberland serving students from the ages of 9-13. The school is currently oversubscribed and has approximately 550 pupils. It is part of a three tier schooling system within the Morpeth partnership of schools.

It is part of the The Three Rivers Learning Trust which provides education in the Morpeth and Rothbury area and consists of Abbeyfelds First School, Harbottle C of E First School, Stobhillgate First School, Thropton Village First School, Chantry Middle School, Newminster Middle School, Dr Thomlinson C of E Middle School and The King Edward VI High School.

All eight schools have a rich and successful history and continue to be a central part of our local and regional community.  As a converter, multi academy trust [December 2011] we aim to build upon our successes whilst valuing our heritage, to ensure that our students are well prepared to succeed in the twenty first century.

Chantry Middle School promotes an ethos of fulfilment, individual value and enjoyment, we acknowledge that our young people are individuals who possess differing strengths but who have a common entitlement. It is our aim to ensure these individual strengths have every opportunity to flourish and thrive.

Our dedicated and talented staff ensure that students are challenged to meet their potential, in a supportive environment.  We have a holistic view of education, delivering a broad and balanced curriculum and cater for a wide range of interests through an extensive enrichment and extra-curricular programme.

Our goal at Chantry Middle School is to be a vibrant and inspirational community empowering all with the confidence and ability to excel in their learning journey.

Our ambition is to develop accomplished students who expand their skills and knowledge to enable them to contribute to the wider community of Morpeth and beyond. Students are enabled to fulfil their academic potential and are well prepared for life beyond Chantry.

Our curriculum has been designed specifically  to develop accomplished students following these core principles:

• Our curriculum is broad, balanced, inclusive and personalised for our students which enables them to develop their knowledge and skills.
• Our curriculum enables students to develop their ability to read and have a shared passion and love of reading across the curriculum.
• Our curriculum  enables students to expand their cultural capital through their learning both inside and outside of the classroom.
• Our curriculum develops the aspiration of students to aim high and challenge themselves on a daily basis with a long term goal in sight.
