At Ackworth Mill Dam School, we provide a caring, safe and secure environment where children are able to develop and gain the skills to become happy, healthy and independent individuals ready to take their place in a diverse community and challenging world. Based in Ackworth, a small village in Wakefield, we feel that being a small primary school is very special as we are able to focus on children’s learning at the start of their school journey and get to know each of them personally. Staff are committed to both the children, the Trust and the School, and work together as a team towards securing the best possible outcomes for all our children. 

Waterton Academy Trust and the Governors of the School are looking to appoint a permanent Headteacher for Easter 2018, who will be:

• a strong leader who will foster a sense of teamwork and provide a dynamic and inspiring example for staff and pupils 
• committed to a culture of continuous improvement of education standards that promotes excellence for staff and pupils alike, and builds on our current Ofsted rating of ‘Good’, secured at our last inspection in February 2017 
• passionate about children’s learning and development, inspiring children to love learning and leading the school in caring for our children 
• articulate, with the ability to communicate clearly and effectively to a range of audiences, and be engaged in an active partnership between school, home, and the wider community
