About the School:
The Westgate School, Hampshire’s first All-Through school, was formed in 2014 when an existing secondary school (1200 pupils) was expanded by building a two-form entry lower school, initially populated by sixty Year R pupils. In September 2017 those pupils will reach Year 3, marking the start of KS2 teaching at The Westgate.
The school is dedicated to enabling all its pupils, in all five Key Stages, to achieve their full academic and personal potential, and for all pupils to make the best possible progress regardless of previous achievement. This is borne out in an excellent record of attainment, progress and behaviour throughout the school.
The Governors are looking to appoint a Headteacher to this unique role who is:
- A visionary and inspirational leader, enthusiastic about leading the ‘All Through’ School as it continues to grow and develop
- Passionate about the development of the whole child - education, behaviour and welfare
- An exceptional leader who creates a climate of high expectation but without fear
- An effective delegator who fully utilises and develops the leadership skills of all colleagues.
The new Headteacher will work in close partnership with the Senior Leadership Team. They will share the school’s vision as set out in our Strategic Principles, in which safeguarding and welfare is a priority, high quality teaching is an expectation and all pupils and colleagues demonstrate courage, determination, resilience and teamwork.
