Founded in 1912, Altrincham Grammar School for Boys (AGSB) is rated “Outstanding” in all areas by Ofsted (2022) and secures some of the best examination results at GCSE and A level in the country. Almost all students progress to university with many attending the best Russell Group universities including Oxford, Cambridge and many others. Blending tradition with 21st century innovations to offer an outstanding education, AGSB is one of the top-performing school in the country and was also awarded the title of North West School of the Year in The Sunday Times Parent Power Guide in 2019 and 2024. The School provides a vibrant and holistic educational environment which inspires passionate and collaborative learners to reach their full potential and contribute positively to society.

Trustees and Governors now seek to appoint an inspiring Headteacher. The post has arisen following the appointment of Mr Graeme Wright to the Headship of Old Swinford Hospital after eight years of exceptional service where the School has consistently ranked among the best schools in the country. This individual will inherit an ambitious yet inclusive School that has seen strong investment and development in recent years.

Altrincham Grammar School for Boys is an academy school based in Altrincham, Cheshire for boys aged 11-18.

The school was founded in 1912. Altrincham Grammar School for Boys is a multi-ethnic seven-form entry 11-18 selective Academy School. It caters for boys who have been selected for a grammar school education from a wide area of South Manchester and North Cheshire. The academic results are outstanding and they place the School in the top 20 maintained schools in the country. Our GCSE results are strong in respect of 9/8 grades and our ‘A’ level results in respect of A*/A/B grades. The 2022 Ofsted Report graded the School as ‘Outstanding in all area’.
