Northbury Primary School (www.northburyprimary.co.uk) is a lively and welcoming school situated in Barking within the London Borough of Barking and Dagenham. The school is larger than most primary schools with a capacity of 918 pupils. The large Victorian building has been extended to provide additional classrooms, administrative areas, a dining hall and a car park. The infant and junior schools merged to form Northbury Primary School on 1st January 2014.

The children at Northbury come from diverse backgrounds, bringing with them a wealth of different experiences. Staff at Northbury Primary School have high aspirations for all children and are committed to excellence, in providing a challenging, stimulating, safe and happy environment where all children can learn and grow with support.

Our current Head Teacher is moving on to become an Executive Headteacher after having led the school through a sustained period of growth and development. He has succeeded in raising the aspirations and attainment at the school over the last few years.

We have a wonderful community of children, parents and staff, who deserve the best Headteacher to lead their school forward. Our latest Ofsted graded us as a “Good” school, with an outstanding achievement in “Personal development, behaviour and welfare” (December 2016).

We are seeking an inspirational leader who is committed to the further development of outstanding provision in our school. We are keen to appoint a leader who is passionate and will ensure that children, parents and staff all continue to pursue the Northbury Primary School vision of achieving and enjoying together.

About Northbury Primary School

Northbury Primary, a state community school, is a mixed, non-selective, non-denominational primary situated in Barking, Essex. Larger than most primary schools, Northbury will provide 918 places for students aged 3-11 when fully subscribed.

At the beginning of 2014, the infant and junior schools combined to form Northbury Primary School. The school building is from the Victorian era, extended for extra classroom space.

Northbury Primary stresses the all-round development of pupils and helping them work to their full potential in every subject. With 96 per cent of students belonging to minority ethnic groups, the school strongly promotes acceptance, as well as spiritual and cultural development. There is also a school council, with two representatives per class attending council meetings to suggest improvements for the school.

Northbury has been awarded a number of accolades over the years, including a Primary Science Quality Mark gold award, Gold-Level Accreditation for Sustainable Travel, and a gold Healthy Schools Award.
