Values and Vision

Berwick Middle School aims to give the children every opportunity possible and to treat them all as individuals. The school highly values students who take advantage of these and take part in extra-curricular activities. This includes drama, sports, music and revision clubs. The school’s mantra is: ‘Be involved. Make a difference. Strive to succeed’. All members of staff encourage the pupils to lead a healthy life by teaching them about the importance of a healthy diet and physical activities. Students should have a positive outlook on their academic life and participate in the local community. The hope is for the students to become enthusiastic learners even when they leave the school as adults.

Ofsted report

“Leaders have rapidly improved the school’s effectiveness, particularly the quality of teaching and students’ achievement, since the last inspection. Most teaching is of at least good quality and this enables students to make good progress during their time in the school. Students who are not on track to meet the school’s challenging targets are quickly identified; short-term additional support is used well to accelerate their progress. Students’ attitudes to learning and each other are typically very positive. Staff have embraced opportunities to develop their teaching skills and risen to the challenge of higher expectations for students’ progress to successfully deliver improvements in achievement.”
