Job overview

Our much respected and dedicated Headteacher has decided to retire and so an exciting opportunity has arisen to join our successful and popular school.  The current Headteacher will leave at the end of the Spring term 2020 and we are actively seeking her replacement.  The school itself is set within spacious grounds with hard playground areas and two large well maintained playing fields.

Are you an enthusiastic, motivated and creative potential candidate who can ensure progress for all and can steer Dulverton School to the next phase of development to safeguard our future?  We are seeking such a person who will respect our commitment to remain a standalone, community school as we believe this enables us to develop and nurture our pupils according to our own standards and ethos.

The successful candidate will be the new Headteacher of an extremely friendly and hardworking school who are totally committed to teamwork and co-operation and support the principles and philosophy of Dulverton School.  Appraisals are conducted annually and linked professional development needs and opportunities will be addressed at that time and through on-going structures.

The school’s philosophy is based on the belief that education is a partnership between home and school where parents/guardians are encouraged to become involved in their children’s learning.  Our ultimate aim is that children will develop into mature and responsible adults.

Ofsted praised the fact that we were driving improvement and as one pupil stated: ‘Teachers are really friendly at this school and they help us.  They show us how to be friendly to each other and to help each other.’

There is also a very supportive parent group - The Friends of Dulverton School – which provides social and fundraising activities, the proceeds of which are used to enhance the school’s resources and thus benefit the children.

The Governors are justly proud of Dulverton School and fully support the hard working and professional teaching and support staff who together have built the reputation that the school enjoys.

If you believe this is the exciting new challenge that you are seeking, we look forward to receiving your application. Further Information, including a Personal Specification and outline Job Description can be found in the Job Vacancy Pack.
