Marlborough School is a maintained split site special school for students aged 11-19 with complex and severe learning difficulties in the London borough of Bexley. Due to the retirement of the current Headteacher, an exciting opportunity has arisen to join our successful and popular school from the summer term 2022 (flexible for the right candidate). Governors are looking to recruit an ambitions, enthusiastic, motivated and innovative leader who to build on the current strengths of the school and the Ofsted ‘good’ rating. We are looking for an exceptional, committed Headteacher with a proven record in educational leadership to share our strategic vision for excellence.

Our future Headteacher will have strong leadership skills and be able to manage the particular demands of the school. The school has a strong, motivated and dedicated team of senior leaders, teaching and support staff, committed to ensuring that all students’ unique and holistic needs are met, that they thrive and are prepared for adulthood.

Closing date: Tuesday 8h February 2022 at 12 noon.

Interview dates: Wednesday 9th and Thursday 10th March 2022. Candidates will be asked to attend both days of interview.

References will be requested for applicants shortlisted prior to interview. An example of the reference pro-forma is shown in Appendix A of the vacancy information pack.

Further vetting checks including an enhanced DBS incorporating a check of the children’s barred list, will be required on provisional offer.

This post is considered to be a customer-facing position; as such it falls within scope of the Code of Practice on English Language Requirement for Public Sector Workers. Marlborough School therefore has a statutory duty under Part 7 of the Immigration Act 2016 to ensure that post holders have a command of spoken English sufficient for the effective performance of the job requirements. The appropriate standards are set out in the JD/Person Specification. These will be applied during the recruitment/selection and probationary stages.
