Due to the retirement of our current headteacher the governing body of Highfurlong Special School are seeking a leader who has the vision and commitment to drive the school forward, to build on the outstanding successes already achieved.

Highfurlong Special School offers coeducational 2-19 provision for children and young people with additional needs. Benefitting from a brand new, purpose built facility, the school is well known for its commitment to achieving high standards and providing a caring environment where all our pupils make good or better progress.

The cultural background of our students, the challenges they face in life, and the visions and values of the school are embraced by our valued and highly skilled staff.

We are looking for:

An experienced Headteacher, Deputy, or Assistant Headteacher who will motivate and support staff and pupils to achieve their best.

A Headteacher with an unequivocal commitment to young people and their families, who demonstrate excellent communication skills in order to promote the vision statement within and beyond the school.

An inspiring and dynamic practitioner who appreciates what has already been achieved and is committed to continuing to drive forward our outstanding school status.

A new leader will be inspirational, a strategic thinker, charismatic and creative, with expertise and creativity to support staff and students alike.

A headteacher who will demonstrate a commitment to full inclusion for all children and young people with an understanding of the particular challenges they face in life in order to support them to be the best they can be.

Highfurlong School is a four times Outstanding special school academy in Blackpool, providing education for pupils aged 2-19 years with a wide range of special educational needs. Our state of the art facilities provide education to nursery, primary, secondary and post 16 children and young people.  With approximately 110 pupils on roll our ‘child first’ ethos underpins everything that we do.
