Compass Schools are unique and distinctive environments that are highly effective in supporting complex children who have experienced trauma and adverse childhood experiences.

Compass currently have two Ofsted outstanding schools and two additional schools that meet the needs of children and young people requiring bespoke education packages to achieve and become the best they can be. Our schools work as part of therapeutic communities supporting children with various packages of education, therapy and care as required.

Child Focused Learning

At Compass Schools, our children are at the very heart of every decision we make. We strive to deliver a holistic education experience which helps children develop personal qualities which are valued in British society; for example, thoughtfulness, honesty, respect for difference, moral principles, independence, and self-respect to reflect upon their role as emerging citizens. We work with pupils to develop self-belief and support children in learning how to be effective learners.

We aim to develop young people who are responsible, caring and respectful of others, have a strong sense of fairness and what is ‘right’. We want pupils to treat others as they would like to be treated themselves and to understand and celebrate diversity and difference. Central to our ethos is the belief that behaviour can be modified, managed and enhanced to enable children and young people to engage with the learning process successfully. We know that pupils can be encouraged and taught to manage their behaviour and that staff can influence pupil behaviour to create positive environments where learning can take place in a calm, purposeful atmosphere.

We offer our pupils a wide range of external accreditation including GCSEs, Functional Skills and Entry Level certificates and are highly ambitious for all our pupils based on their academic and emotional starting points.
