This is an exciting opportunity to become the new Headteacher for St John’s Catholic Voluntary Aided Primary School within the Diocese of Shrewsbury and the Shropshire Education Authority. The position is available due to the retirement of the current Headteacher.

St John’s Catholic Primary School has served the Catholic and wider community of Bridgnorth since its inception in 1853. St John’s has a dedicated staff totally committed to the well-being of all the children both educationally and as a healthy, happy community.

The Board of Governors are committed to St John’s School along with parents who are second to none in the help and support that they give to the school. The School prides itself on being a caring community, which promotes good attitudes in the children.

The school is a “Good School”, and the Governors are looking for an inspirational Head Teacher to take the school forward to becoming an “Outstanding School”.

As Headteacher you will provide professional leadership and management of the school, promoting a secure foundation from which to achieve high standards in all areas of the school’s work. You will establish a culture that promotes excellence, equality and high expectations of all pupils. This will include ensuring that religious education is in accordance with the teachings, doctrines, discipline and general and particular norms of the Catholic Church.

Essential criteria for this appointment include, but not limited to:

  • Practising Catholic
  • Qualified Teacher Status
  • Evidence of regular, recent and appropriate professional development for the role of Headteacher
  • Recent successful leadership as a Headteacher, Deputy Headteacher or Assistant Headteacher.
  • Active and effective leadership of a team/key stage/curriculum area/department
  • Knowledge and understanding of strategic financial planning, budgetary
