Job overview

St. Paul’s is a warm and welcoming primary school with 210 pupils.  It feels like a local village school, and yet is in the centre of Brighton. The school is near to the train station, with excellent transport links including two lines to London. Our school is judged good by Ofsted and last year came top in Brighton & Hove for our key stage two standards.

We have an experienced and dedicated senior leadership team, teachers and staff, who all work tirelessly to offer a broad, balanced and exciting curriculum for the children. Most importantly they all share the same passion for ensuring that every child achieves their full potential and beyond. We also have supportive parents and governing body.

St Paul’s was founded in 1887 by Fr Arthur Wagner, the vicar of St Paul’s church, to provide free education in one of the poorest parts of a rapidly expanding city. The school now has close relationships with three inner-city churches, St Paul’s and St Michael and All Angels’, and St Nicholas’. Under SIAMS Section 48 inspection of church schools we are judged good, with outstanding for spiritual, moral, social and cultural education. We are seeking a headteacher who will embrace the Catholic Anglican tradition of all three churches on the school’s foundation, and work with them to develop a dynamic vision of inclusive Christian education in our exciting urban context.

St Paul’s currently has bilingual status (English and Spanish) and we have many multilingual families in school, which adds a fantastic dimension to our diversity.

As our current headteacher retires, we are looking for an individual with a high level of energy and vision to take over and lead our school into its next chapter. We are looking for someone who can empower and inspire both staff and children to be the best they can be. You will be ambitious, inspirational and have excellent leadership skills.
