“Our aspirational leadership embeds a culture of ambition which permeates the school”
Ofsted May 2017
The Governing Body is seeking to appoint an inspirational Headteacher to lead the school. The role would suit either an existing Headteacher or a Deputy Headteacher, with substantial leadership experience in pursuit of their first Headship.
Our current Headteacher is retiring after seven years in the role. He leaves the school in a strong position: rated “Good” by Ofsted, with many outstanding elements, financially sound and with student outcomes meeting national expectations.
Our vision is Developing Tomorrow’s Leaders Today and we are looking to appoint an open communicator with the passion to bring out the best in the students and staff and to navigate the school through the next exciting stage of its development. We have a culture of ambition that would suit a Headteacher who has the motivation and the trust to empower others in order to get things done.
The Misbourne lies in the village of Great Missenden, in the Chiltern Hills, a short distance from the M25 / M40 and served by the Chiltern train line. It is a strategic partner in the Astra School Alliance, fully participating in training, support, research and development.
The school has:
- A good local reputation and is regularly oversubscribed.
- High expectations of staff and students and no tolerance for complacency.
- A calm learning environment where students have a positive attitude to learning, their progress and personal development.
- High quality teaching and a real focus on bespoke staff development.
- A clear commitment to maintaining high standards and maximising the performance of each individual student.
There are 981 students between the ages of 11 to 18 with 140 in the Sixth Form served by a staff of 104 (67 teaching/37 support staff). We have recently completed a new classroom block and Sixth Form area and are awaiting confirmation of a new sports hall this year.
The Governing Body has recently completed the conversion to standalone Academy status, with effect from January 2018.
We invite candidates to come and visit the school on Thursday 29 March, Tuesday 17 April or Wednesday 18 April. Please contact the Head’s PA, Ms J Wheater on 01494 867845 or email@example.com to arrange a visit.
Closing date: Midday on Friday 20 April 2018.
