We are looking for an inspirational, dynamic, energetic, and exceptional leader, with a proven track record of working with a diverse student cohort to achieve their full potential.

We welcome applications who are serving Headteachers or substantive Deputy Headteachers with + five years’ experience.

Key responsibilities of the Headteacher will include:

  • Overall responsibility for the internal organisation, management and control of the school.
  • Taking the lead role on working with the Governing Body to develop a collaborative and ambitious school vision, which embraces excellence, high standards and inclusion.
  • Translating the vision into a development plan, communicate the KPIs and implement the plan successfully.
  • Securing excellent teaching to achieve high standards of learning and attainment across the 11-18 range, including preparation for employment, higher education and training, with a resolute belief that every student is capable of making exceptional progress.
  • Holding all staff to account for their professional conduct and practice.
  • Being committed to making evidence informed decisions and to using educational research effectively.
  • Ensuring inclusion, diversity and access.
  • Having budgetary control and managing finance and resources astutely to maximise their use and value.
  • Developing and sustaining effective relationships with the Governing Body, and the Chair of Governors in particular, to ensure effective governance of the school, and the discharge of GB responsibilities.
  • Building/developing and maintaining effective relationships with parents and all members of the school and wider community to enhance the education of all pupils.
  • Creating an outward-facing school to work with other schools, organisations and partners to champion best practice.

Key qualities of the Headteacher will include:

  • Lead by example to foster an open, transparent and equitable culture.
  • Uphold public trust in school leadership and maintain high standards of ethics, behaviour and professional conduct, balancing the ability to deal with every situation calmly and kindly, whilst being willing to challenge individuals, to secure the very best outcomes for all.
  • Build positive and respectful relationships across the school community.
  • Create a culture where pupils experience a positive and enriching school life.
  • Uphold educational standards in order to prepare pupils from all backgrounds for their next phase of education and life.
  • Ensure a culture of staff professionalism.
  • Encourage high standards of behaviour from pupils, built on rules and routines that are understood by staff and pupils and clearly demonstrated by all adults in school.
  • Use consistent and fair approaches to managing behaviour, in line with the school’s behaviour policy.
  • Be an outstanding communicator.
