Job overview

Manshead CE Academy is a Church of England secondary Academy that serves girls and boys aged 11 – 18 years old within the neighbouring community of Dunstable, Luton.

Manshead faces significant challenges yet has enormous potential to become ‘outstanding’ in time. The school joined the newly formed Diocese of St Alban’s Multi-Academy Trust (DSAMAT is currently made up of 6 schools and growing) in April 2017 having previously been placed in Special Measures. DSAMAT has a strong school improvement capability that is already paying dividends and has, with the Site Trustees, plans for the development of the premises - all of which makes for a wonderful platform from which to drive rapid and sustainable progress.

We are seeking a strong and empowering Headteacher, with the desire and know-how to nurture a dynamic learning environment with an unrelenting focus on developing high aspirations and successful outcomes for all students and those from disadvantaged backgrounds in particular.

For an existing Principal/Head this could be the next big challenge you seek …or equally for an experienced Vice Principal/Deputy Head and still yet untapped potential.

Applications are sought from both practising Christians and individuals committed to actively supporting the Christian ethos of the academy.

If you believe you can provide outstanding leadership, which inspires and motivates others towards excellence and ensures the very best education for all our learners, then we would love to hear from you.

Closing: Monday 16 April at 5pm

Shortlisting: Thursday 19 April 2018

Interview day: Thursday 26 April 2016

Values and vision

Manshead CE Academy aims to encourage a search for personal excellence in both students and staff. It wants to serve the community as well as abide by these shared values: respect, responsibility, faith and compassion. Teachers strive to empower students to achieve their full academic potential, while also concentrating on their social, moral and spiritual behaviour.

The school aims to provide each individual student with the personal attention they need to prepare them for future learning and life. This is reflected in the use of Pupil Premium funding to help those from less advantaged backgrounds reach their potential.

Manshead CE Academy specialises in maths, but also develops pupils’ creative sides through music, PE, dance, social sciences, ethics and drama. The Duke of Edinburgh Award scheme is offered at Bronze (Year 10), Silver (Year 11) and Gold (sixth form) levels.
