Job overview

Camden School for Girls is a highly successful, non-denominational, VA inner city comprehensive for girls, with a large, mixed sixth form. It was rated 'outstanding' by Ofsted in 2005, and again in 2007, and has been identified as one of the 100 most successful schools in the country by government ministers. The school combines a deep sense of pride in its foundation in 1871 by Frances Mary Buss, a pioneer in girls' education, with a lively interest in contemporary educational thinking.

Our students are confident and keen to learn. They have a strong sense of community spirit which is nurtured by their teachers, who are well-qualified subject specialists and who create a stimulating and vibrant learning environment in the school. Rigorous self-evaluation lies at the heart of our success, and while we celebrate our many successes, we are never complacent.

We wish to appoint a collaborative, ambitious leader, with experience of delivering the highest possible educational outcomes. The appointed person will have excellent teamwork skills, a strong commitment to the ethos of inclusivity and diversity that is fundamental to the school and the ability to inspire and empower others. Supported by dedicated and talented staff and governors, our headteacher will be a forward-thinking enthusiast who will also uphold the school's long-standing traditions.
