Job overview

We are looking for a new headteacher for our high achieving and consistently over-subscribed 11-18 school. Our current headteacher is moving into a trust wide role after an inspirational and successful career of 30 years at Congleton High School. We are now seeking a talented successor who can build on the school’s achievements while bringing their own vision and style to this successful school.

Congleton High School (CHS) is a rural school of nearly 1300 pupils, including a sixth form of 300 pupils, located in the heart of the Cheshire countryside. Recognised by Ofsted as “An inclusive school where you aim to get the best out of everyone”, we have a strong team ethos, with students and staff alike welcoming the opportunity to help others succeed. CHS boasts strong academic performance with our P8 'above average' in 2018 and 2019, including highest P8 in Cheshire in 2018.

The school is part of The Learning Alliance, a growing and flourishing family of schools. As the new headteacher, you will enjoy unstinting support and care from an experienced and approachable local governing board as well as advice and help from an experienced Chief Executive. The role includes day-to-day responsibility for the operation of the school, providing a great education for all and ensuring the wellbeing of our whole school community.

We are looking for a highly effective leader with a natural leaning towards collaborative working, who will fulfil the potential in staff and children alike, utilising an adaptive style to best meet the needs of the whole school community. We are proud of our school and are looking for someone who will uphold our excellent reputation and nurture our existing and positive relationships with staff and parents or carers. Staff members work collaboratively together with each other and with students and parents to build strong relationships and improve outcomes for all. CHS continues to forge positive relationships and links with 8 partner primary schools and the other schools within The Learning Alliance.

We offer an attractive salary and a competitive benefits package. The Learning Alliance supports its family of schools with specialist central services, extensive professional development and career opportunities and a wide network of curriculum and other links.

To apply for this post, please complete an application on TES. Alongside this, please set out in 1,000 words why this is the right post for you.

All completed application forms and written statements need to be submitted by Thursday 13th October 2022. Shortlisted candidates will be contacted and invited to attend a 2-day interview during the week commencing Monday 17th October 2022.

The interview process will involve a series of panel interviews, leadership tasks and presentations. There will also be an opportunity for shortlisted candidates to meet staff and students during the interview days.

We encourage all prospective candidates to visit and meet with us. You can contact us by emailing the Headteacher’s PA, Ms K Moore: kmoore@congletonhigh.com
