This is a fantastic opportunity to lead our high achieving, oversubscribed 11-18 mixed selective school.  We are looking for an inspirational, energetic and visionary Headteacher to build on our school’s current success as our Headteacher is retiring after 14 years of loyal service.

You will be a strong leader, have energy and enthusiasm, engage well with students, staff and parents and have a real passion for education.

We are very proud of our school, our students and our staff and want to appoint someone who will share our ethos and vision.  Clitheroe Royal Grammar school, a stand-alone converter academy, is one of the top 50 state schools in the country and we pride ourselves on our excellent exam results, our outstanding curricular and extra-curricular opportunities and our focus on student support. The school is located in the heart of Clitheroe, a market town in Lancashire’s Ribble Valley.

We are not complacent regarding our current success and know that we will need an outstanding leader to continue to raise standards in our school.

The successful candidate will have a tremendous opportunity to lead highly motivated staff and students in one of the highest achieving schools in the country, a centre of excellence.  The current number on roll is 1290 including 630 in the Sixth Form.

About Clitheroe Royal Grammar School

Since our foundation in 1554 our school has provided a centre of excellence, offering superb teaching and learning opportunities. We have a very strong academic record and are one of the country’s highest achieving schools. Students benefit greatly from outstanding teaching, exceptional pastoral care and first-class facilities.

We combine the strengths of a mixed selective grammar school with the advantages of being a thoroughly modern 21st century school which prepares students for a rapidly changing world. We focus on the education and the development of the individual and offer a wide provision of extra-curricular activities.

Clitheroe Royal Grammar School is a mixed selective 11-18 Single Academy Trust. The Main School (Years 7-11) is at our Chatburn Road site where we currently have 782 students on roll, set to increase to 900 by September 2027.

The Sixth Form Centre is housed at the York Street site. We have 650 students in our Sixth Form from over 40 secondary schools. Students study a wide range of A Level subjects. The majority of our Sixth Form students go on to Higher Education, with most progressing to their first choice destination.
