Job overview

LYNG HALL SCHOOL

Headteacher

LPS Point 27-31 (£94,332 – 104,040)

Finham Park Multi Academy Trust is delighted to announce that we are recruiting a Headteacher for Lyng Hall for September 2025. This is a unique and exciting opportunity for the right candidate to shape the immediate and long-term future for the school, supported by a close-knit community of other Headteachers and colleagues across the Trust.

Lyng Hall School is a slightly smaller than average 11-18 secondary school serving communities in the North-East of Coventry. The school therefore has a comprehensive intake of pupils. Lyng Hall was judged by Ofsted as ‘Good’ for all areas except the ‘Quality of Education’ that was deemed as Requires Improvement in November 2024. Although the school has continued to flourish since the 2019 inspection, published outcomes have not recovered quickly enough since the COVID pandemic.

The Published Admissions Number (PAN) is 150 with a temporary increase to 180 pupils in several year groups over the last few years. The Sixth Form continues to grow in popularity and has a bespoke offer as part of a Trust-wide Post-16 strategy. It is our belief that Lyng Hall will become a learning community to rival the best on a national and international stage in the future. The successful candidate will lead Lyng Hall and continue the drive to become a “World Class” school where all students have the times of their lives!

We are looking to appoint a charismatic, dynamic individual with exceptional leadership skills, who naturally inspires others and is passionate about teaching and its impact on learning. The successful candidate will be driven by a commitment to create the best possible educational opportunities for all students, in order to raise aspirations and transform lives.

Finham Park Multi Academy Trust is seeking a Headteacher who will:

·        be an already experienced and successful leader with the potential to become “World Class”; a willing and capable learner who is able to articulate a vision for the school and who will inspire and empower others to share in achieving it

·        have a determination to consolidate improvement, build on strengths and lead the school to even greater success

·        inspiring positive attitudes and motivating students and staff, ensuring all are valued and supported to be the best they can be

·        be passionate about making a difference for every child

·        have a strong presence, maintaining and developing excellent relationships between staff, governors, parents, students and the wider community

·        be committed to becoming involved at a strategic level in the development and growth of our Multi Academy Trust – unique in it’s ambition to promote co-construction at all levels with the CEO/Executive Headteacher and other colleagues from the Trust and its schools.

We welcome enquiries from experienced Headteachers and Deputy Headteachers and are happy to arrange informal, confidential discussions or visits to the School. Should you be interested in either of these options, please contact Emily Bench, Human Resources Manager on 02477 180 000 or email e.bench@finhampark.co.uk or alternatively Beki Chesshire-Ramon, PA to the Executive Headteacher on 02477 180 000 or email r.chesshire-ramon@finhamparkmat.co.uk

To apply, please read our pack before providing your application. Please ensure your supporting statement sets out why you feel that you are suitable for this role and includes demonstrable impact of your leadership and achievements.

Values and vision

Lyng Hall School wants all students to achieve their full potential and achieve high standards in a welcoming and stimulating learning environment. The secondary school works to deliver pupils a broad and balanced curriculum where learning is made enjoyable and where individual talents and skills can develop. It is important for the school that pupils are fully prepared for life after secondary school, and a wide range of careers advice is available throughout each school year, with Year 7 pupils being given an insight into university life, while Year 13 students gain interview practice to prepare them for their future job hunt. Lyng Hall School wants all students to feel valued and treated as individuals, and works to ensure that pupils respect each other, regardless of their differences and beliefs. Lyng Hall school has been awarded the prestigious ‘World Class Schools Quality Mark'. The award  demonstrates to parents that their children are participating in opportunities and  experiences that will enable their child to flourish and reach their full potential;  universities will know that our students are well-rounded and are ready for higher  education; businesses will be aware of the capabilities of the brightest potential employees.

Ofsted

Our Ofsted inspection in  November 2024 recognised the strengths of the school “Lyng Hall School  welcomes everyone. Staff ‘go the extra mile’ to help pupils. They support those  who are new to the school well so that they settle quickly into the learning  community. Pupils get along with each other. They know who to turn to if they  have a concern, and they feel safe.” The school was judged good in all areas  except quality of education which requires improvement as published outcomes  have not improved rapidly enough.
