Headteacher

At our school we offer a caring, engaging and special place to learn and grow. We work hard to create an optimal environment for learning, underpinned by a strong emphasis on building positive relationships. Our approach is based on an understanding of child development with an awareness of the impact of early trauma and attachment on children’s ‘readiness to learn’. Many of our staff have been trained in attachment-based mentoring. 

Applying this knowledge to all children has created a school environment that is purposeful, nurturing and calm, and children and adults alike can sit ‘comfortably inside their own skin’ and have the ability to see life from another point of view.

We want children to develop confidence in themselves; we want them to be excited by possibilities and ‘not knowing’, so they will become creative and critical thinkers, resilient lifelong learners growing successfully and sustainably alongside others.

Laughter and fun are important aspects of St Martin’s. We are a school which enables children and adults to grow in a safe and purposeful environment, encouraging all to be excited about the world we live in and enabling everyone to ‘live life in all its fullness’ John 10:10. We support all of our children to be the best they can be.

Our children have some amazing ideas on the qualities our new headteacher should have and we have listed these within our application pack. To give you a flavour, some of the qualities are:
