Kingsley School, Bideford is a leading independent co-educational day and boarding school and a member of the Methodist Independent School Trust. The school has 450 pupils of which 260 are in Senior School and 100 are boarders. It has a splendid location in in a beautiful corner of Devon between Exmoor and Dartmoor, shared between nursery, primary and senior schools. It is a happy school with a strong ethos of caring.

Kingsley’s vision – “Discover, Nurture, Celebrate” reflects the school’s pride in the individual attention given to each pupil. Academic results are outstanding: 86% of pupils achieved grades A*- C. A renowned dyslexia centre allows all pupils to achieve at their highest level, as does the provision for outdoor education, sport and performing arts.

The Governing Body are now seeking a Head who is capable of sustaining the school’s high standards as well as bringing innovative and imaginative direction. This is an outstanding career opportunity for an educational leader with charismatic personal qualities.

The successful candidate will

  • Share the school’s educational values and communicate the school’s identity, the ‘Kingsley difference’
  • Demonstrate successful relevant experience in school leadership
  • Possess the capacity to inspire great learning and successful outcomes for all pupils
  • Be capable of effective change management through a collegiate approach, building successful teams, when necessary demonstrating decisive leadership, and working effectively with Governors
  • Have a secure knowledge of current educational issues, practices and development
  • Have presence as a confident and impressive communicator, with a flair for effective PR, who will command the interest and imagination of staff, pupils, existing and potential parents

It is a requirement for this post that the appointee be either a member of a Methodist Church, or an active participant in the worshipping life of another Christian Church and in sympathy with the purposes of the Methodist Church. About Kingsley School, Bideford

Kingsley School is located in the coastal town of Bideford, Devon. The school is co-educational and has around 400 pupils aged 0-18. Roughly 100 of these pupils are boarders, with the rest being day pupils. The school is located on a single site on Bideford, with provision for all year groups. An academically non-selective institution, Kingsley School can boast of a wide range of facilities including a fully floodlit astroturf pitch, a theatre, and a dedicated sports hall.
