Values and vision

St Michael’s draws a great deal of its ethos from Christian values. There is daily collective worship to encourage the spiritual development of pupils. A sense of community is instilled in children, who are encouraged to help one another even across year groups.

Regular visits to church and close working relationships with local Church of England groups are also part of the school’s day-to-day life. To support academic success, the school day contains shorter, more frequent lessons and proper time put aside for play and daily assemblies.

Ofsted report

“In the best lessons information about the levels pupils are working at is used well to give them tasks that get the best from pupils, whatever their ability. For example, in an excellent Year 5 mathematics lesson on coordinates and graph plotting, pupils were able to work on different tasks that were well matched to their ability, enabling them to make outstanding progress.”
