Job overview

Are you an inspirational leader with high expectations, driven by a love of learning and with a commitment to ensure all pupils achieve their full potential?

North West Academies Trust and the Governing Body of Ellesmere Primary School, Shropshire, are seeking a dynamic leader for the 396 pupils and 61 staff at our lively and successful two-form entry primary school. Our current Headteacher retires in April 2018, having successfully led the school to a good Ofsted rating in May 2016 and academisation in September 2016.

We have a dedicated staff team that are determined to provide outstanding academic and pastoral standards on behalf of our pupils and parents. There is also a nursery onsite with 64 places, a children’s centre and we are blessed with our very own swimming pool! You would be joining us at an exciting part of our journey as the school competes for a £4.5 million CIF bid to reconfigure and redevelop our current buildings, and help drive Ellesmere Primary to be one of the highest performing schools in Shropshire and beyond.

You will have the humour, dedication and commitment needed to get the best from people. Our school needs a Headteacher with empathy and understanding who will lead from the front and ensure that all staff are inspired to get the best from each child. Standards in the school are improving and we are looking forward to employing a top quality, inspirational leader to support us in our journey to become a truly outstanding school.

About North West Academies Trust

North West Academies Trust (NWAT) was established in 2011 to open a free school, St Martin’s Academy in Chester, with the aim of providing world-class education within the academy and free school sector.

Including Ellesmere Primary, which joined the Trust in September 2016, there are four schools within the Trust - St Martin’s Academy; Delamere C of E Academy; Oak View Academy - and one additional primary school in the pre-opening stage. All the Trust schools benefit from excellent working partnerships that are collaborative and supportive, but also allow each school the freedom to follow their own direction and best meet the needs of the pupils in their care.
