Russet House is a well-resourced purpose-built environment catering for children with autism from the age of 3-11 years. The school also manages a multi-agency borough-wide Advisory Service for Autism for children and young people aged 0-25. In 2005 and 2012 the school was expanded to meet the needs of an increasing number of pupils with autism; we currently have thirteen classes in the main building plus three temporary classes.

Our recent Ofsted inspection in May 2013 graded Russet House as an ‘Outstanding’ school in all categories:

  • Achievement of Pupils: OUTSTANDING
  • Quality of Teaching: OUTSTANDING
  • Behaviour and Safety of Pupils: OUTSTANDING
  • Leadership & Management: OUTSTANDING

Russet House is a supportive, friendly and positive place to work with highly experienced, motivated and talented staff. We are looking for an inspirational educationalist and a proven team leader who has strategic vision, commitment, and good understanding of autism and its effect on all aspects of learning and everyday life.

We are seeking an ambitious Headteacher who will, not only maintain the exceptionally high standards at Russet House, but will build upon these strong foundations and drive the school to new heights.

Applications are welcomed from existing Headteachers and experienced Head of Schools.

We are looking for a Headteacher who has:

  • A proven track record in driving standards as a senior member of the school leadership team.
  • Experience within the field of SEN; some knowledge and experience of Autism is necessary and more extensive knowledge would be advantageous.
  • A high emotional intelligence, is a great team-builder and understands the importance of relationships and the empowerment of staff, pupils and parents.
  • Vision, passion, determination, a positive outlook and a great sense of humour and fun.
  • Commitment to the pursuit of excellence and a vision for education, with the strategic leadership and communication skills needed to deliver this.

We offer:

  • A purpose built environment for nursery and primary pupils with autism.
  • Friendly, highly motivated, experienced and well-trained staff.
  • Exceptional pupils who enjoy learning.
  • The opportunity to join the PAN London Autism Network for Headteachers and the opportunity to influence and lead good autism practice throughout Enfield and beyond.
  • An ethos of high quality learning for all including excellent opportunities for continuous professional development.
