Mersea Island school is a two-form entry primary which serves the 7,000 people of Mersea Island and surrounding villages. The school has a large site with an excellent sports' field and a variety of buildings of various ages.

Our pupils are well-behaved, polite and happy. The school is a large part of the local community and this is something we wish to build upon and strengthen further.

Our island environment provides a wonderful backdrop and resource for the school. This supports our strong belief in the benefits of a broad and balanced curriculum. The pupils and staff are able to explore the beaches and coastal waterways, nature reserves, farm life and the Mersea Outdoors Activity Centre located in rural East Mersea. The school also enjoys links with the many sports and recreational clubs that the island has to offer.

We seek a Head who enthusiastically believes that good learning outcomes are built on high quality teaching and has a proven track record of improving attainment and progress, particularly at key stage 2. The successful candidate will be dedicated to bringing about a significant change in our culture by setting high expectations for staff, pupils and parents

We have a well-balanced and very dedicated Governing body who take an active role in the running of the school.
