HEAD TEACHER, BOWHILL PRIMARY SCHOOL

Bowhill is a member of Exeter Learning Academy Trust, a primary trust with big ambitions for the children in our care. This is a great opportunity to lead a large, dynamic primary school, influence Trust wide developments, and be well supported in your career. We are looking for an experienced and inclusive Headteacher who can build on the excellent leadership provided by the current school leader.

Bowhill is a welcoming and happy school with an ethos of aspiration and achievement. It sits within the heart of its community and serves a diverse population. The school has a strong reputation and takes the maximum PAN (75) into reception each year. We will be looking for the successful candidate to continue to work closely with the community, ensure the school has a rich and diverse curriculum offer and that our most vulnerable pupils build strong and lasting relationships leading to excellent outcomes. Our children are kind, curious and passionate about local and global issues.

The successful applicant will be able to demonstrate an effective track record in school leadership and be wholly committed to equity and providing the best outcomes for all children. You will be relentless in helping our children to achieve their ambitions by ensuring our staff become the best they can be.

As a member of the Exeter Learning Academy Trust and, as Headteacher, you will join a collegiate and motivated team of school leaders with strong moral drivers for ensuring all children achieve well. We are committed to making education accessible for all and removing fear of failure from both children and adults by adopting a coaching culture. You will be a member of the Trust’s leadership team and your expertise will be used to benefit children across our Trust and beyond. Our geographical location enables us to work closely together, but we also enjoy the benefits of working closely with other Trusts, schools and organisations. Local Governors provide strong governance at school level and work closely with the school leaders in providing support and challenge.

 About Exeter

Exeter is a vibrant city, full of historic buildings, cultural attractions and contemporary restaurants. Sitting just a few miles from Dartmoor and many of Devon’s wonderful beaches, it enables individuals to pursue many leisure and cultural activities and has easy access to strong transport links. Education is at the forefront of the city with Exeter University and Exeter College both gaining high accolades in further and degree education and supported by approximately 50 primary, secondary and specialist schools. This is a wonderful opportunity to work in a great part of Devon within a strong educational community.

Exeter Learning Academy Trust is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expect all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. We encourage you to read our Safeguarding Policy before applying. We will ask for references and conduct an online search for all shortlisted candidates. An enhanced DBS check is required for all successful candidates.

For more information, please visit the school and Trust websites: https://bowhill.devon.sch.uk and https://www.exeterlearningacademytrust.co.uk.

We would welcome visits to the school and/or a discussion with the CEO, Rachel Shaw, in order to learn more about the role and what it is like to work and be supported in our Trust.
