Job overview

Group 2

Salary Grade: L11 – L15 (£54,091 – £59,581)

Start: September 2021

Do you know when you see an opportunity that is so rare that no matter how happy you are in your current job, you just know you have to apply?! This is it. We are Flimby School and our children, the staff that work with them, the governors and Trust are looking for someone as rare as this opportunity.

All who entrust their children to us expect to see the kind of progress in each child that means outstanding doesn’t come close to describing the all-round education we provide. We need a leader that has the experience not to flinch in the face of that challenge but more than that, has the wisdom to chart the right courses of action and judiciously use all the resources at their disposal to make purposeful progress towards distinction.

Flimby is a well-established and highly respected school but we know we can do more to enhance children’s education. Being judged Good, we need someone who can ensure the school pushes forwards towards an outstanding judgement and make sure the school changes lives through learning.

You must have the ambition and energy to provide inspirational leadership to our impressive, hardworking staff, under the watchful eyes of the children and the governors. Our children are polite and respectful because we expect the highest standards in behaviour but there’s no need to enforce this really, they’re brilliant. We now need another exceptional head teacher who can do all of this whilst showing commitment and genuine care for our children and staff.

Flimby Primary School became part of West Lakes Trust on 1st September 2020 and we are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children. Successful applicants will be required to undertake an enhanced disclosure with regulated activity via the Disclosure and Barring Service.

The role is full time, full year and permanent.

Full details are available on West Lakes Multi Academy Trust website.

The closing date is 12:00pm, Friday 14th May 2021

Shortlisting during week beginning Monday 17th May 2021

Two-day interviews will take place Friday 21st May and Monday 24th May 2021 with further shortlisting between the two days.

Flimby Primary School is a friendly village school situated on the Solway coast at the edge of the beautiful Lake District.  Our children are at the heart of everything we do, working continually to encourage and inspire them to be the aspirational young people we know they are. We are busy but friendly and have lots going on. The school is part of a close knit, well established community and has been at the heart of the village for more than a century. At Flimby Primary School we believe that education is a two-way process where children’s opinions and interests are valued and respected. The interests and aspirations of our children are what drive our curriculum intent forward. We have an amazing team of dedicated staff, who work hard to ensure that every child is supported, cherished and challenged to fulfil their learning potential in a safe, exciting and welcoming learning environment. Our children are polite, well-mannered and respectful with high levels of behaviour expected at our school. We are incredibly proud of them.

Flimby Primary School became part of West Lakes Multi Academy Trust on September 1st 2020. Children and staff benefit from the unique opportunities that being part of a Multi-Academy Trust brings.

Our wider school community are welcomed and encouraged to be part of our Flimby School family. We have a wonderful group of parents, who fundraise for our school to provide extra play equipment, technology and funding to support school trips. We hold dear our family friendly events and parents will always be welcomed into our school.
