Job overview

Every Child, Every Chance, Every Day

Primary Special School

The Governors of Ysgol Pen Coch Special School would like to appoint a Headteacher for Summer Term 2019.

The school, built in 2009, stands in an elevated position overlooking the town of Flint and has breathtaking views over the Dee Estuary and towards the Wirral. It is within easy reach of Chester and the North Wales coast and the train station is a 5-10 minute walk.

It has excellent facilities and is able to provide education for pupils aged between 2 and 11. The number of children currently on roll is 97.

It aims to enable all pupils to be in the right frame of mind to learn, providing excellent therapeutic and learning opportunities for all pupils.

Ysgol Pen Coch is categorised as green school and a Pioneer school for both professional development and the curriculum.  It has links with universities in England and Wales.

Ysgol Pen Coch has committed teachers and support staff who work together as a team and there is a wonderful ethos in the school.

This is a great opportunity for a committed professional and senior leader.  It is mandatory in Wales that a serving Headteacher has the NPQH (or the equivalent if you are applying from another country).  It is acceptable to be in the final stage of your NPQH when you apply but only if you have acquired the qualification in time to start the post.

If you have the experience, commitment and drive to take on and further develop Ysgol Pen Coch then this could be the right  post for you.

In return for your commitment, energy and expertise you will work with a great team, wonderful children and a fully supportive local authority and management committee. Flintshire county council is a very inclusive local authority committed to providing the best quality provision for vulnerable learners with severe/ complex needs.

For an informal discussion please contact Jeanette Rock, Principle Education Officer for Inclusion on 01352 704017 Email: jeanette.rock@flintshire.gov.uk
