Job overview
Hawarden High School is a successful, over – subscribed 11 – 18 community comprehensive school. Following the retirement of our current Headteacher, the Governing Body is seeking an outstanding leader to sustain the achievements and developments within the school.
The appointee will be a well – qualified and highly committed professional with significant leadership experience who articulates a clear vision for our school’s continued development.
The person we are looking for specifically will:
- Provide excellent strategic leadership and management which enables the school to promote the highest possible standards of achievement;
- Have the ability to secure improvement in learning and teaching;
- Have the capacity to inspire and motivate all stakeholders.
The school is situated in an attractive area close to the border, just 6 miles from Chester and within easy reach of the North Wales coast, Liverpool and Manchester.

Hawarden High School is an 11-18 mixed comprehensive school which is oversubscribed and successful. We currently have 1150 pupils on roll, including 180 in our Sixth Form.
