Job overview
Brent Knoll: Ambitious About Excellence
Located in a state of the art modern building, Brent Knoll School is an Ofsted Good, all through mixed special school, catering for pupils with complex social, communication and interaction difficulties. The overwhelming majority of pupils on the school’s roll have been diagnosed with autistic spectrum disorders. The school operates as a part of a co-operative trust with Watergate School, a local primary special school.
Since the retirement of its previous long serving head in December 2016, Brent Knoll has been led by a highly effective interim headteacher. He has now been offered a permanent post elsewhere and the governing body is looking to appoint a committed and ambitious headteacher to continue the school’s journey from Good to Outstanding.
Reporting to the Chair of Governors, you will:
- Provide inspirational and motivational leadership across the school
- Work closely with governors, staff and all key stakeholders to develop and communicate a shared vision that expresses the core values of the school
- Monitor practice, manage performance and continuously improve the quality of teaching and learning across the school
- Further develop a creative curriculum offer that meets the needs of all pupils
- Manage relationships with staff, parents, carers, trust partners, the local authority and the wider community
Currently either a headteacher, an experienced and successful deputy, or someone looking to return to headship, you are an enthusiastic and inspirational leader, with the drive, ambition and high standards to build on our achievements and take us to the next level. You combine an extensive knowledge and experience of working with children with special educational needs, with creative and innovative approaches to teaching and learning. An effective people manager and reflective practitioner, who is not afraid to challenge the status quo, you are a confident decision maker with the emotional intelligence and good humour to take others with you.
In return for your integrity, passion, dynamism and sense of fun, we are able to offer you the opportunity to work in a school with exceptional facilities and robust finances. You will work alongside an engaged and supportive governing body and talented, experienced and highly dedicated staff. We all share a real commitment to maximizing opportunities for our pupils and equipping them to lead fulfilling and independent lives.
