Job overview

The Governors of Chosen Hill School are looking to appoint a new Headteacher with effect from 1st September, 2021. Chosen Hill School is a stand-alone academy located in the village of Churchdown in Gloucestershire and close to the beautiful Cotswolds. There are just over 1300 students on roll, including a popular and expanding Sixth Form and the school has a strong reputation in the local community. In November 2018 the school was rated ‘Good’ at its most recent Ofsted inspection. Chosen Hill is a happy school, where students, staff and parents work closely in partnership and there is an atmosphere of trust and mutual respect.

The current Headteacher, Mrs Harrison, is leaving the school to take up her new role as Gloucestershire Director of Education after 5 successful years of leadership at the school in which the school has moved the school forward significantly. We are looking to appoint an ambitious, appropriately experienced, committed and energetic leader, who will continue to raise aspirations and build on the strong foundations Mrs Harrison has put in place to ensure the success of all our students and staff.

This role is an exciting opportunity for an exceptional leader to further their strategic leadership experience and continue to lead our school development journey with the support of the Governing body. Governors are looking to appoint an individual with a proven track record of initiating and leading effective change and of working collaboratively with staff, students, parents and the wider community.

Applications should be completed in full by 22nd March 2021.

Interviews will be held on the 21st, 22nd and 23rd April 2021.

Prospective candidates are invited to either visit the school (under COVID secure conditions) or have a 1 to 1 information meeting via Microsoft Teams between 8th and 19th March. Please contact the Head’s PA, Mrs Jane Russell on JRS@chosen-hill.gloucs.sch.uk. to make arrangements. Meetings will be by appointment only and will be available between the 8th and 19th of March.

Chosen Hill School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. All posts require an enhanced DBS clearance. Our interview and recruitment process will include, but is not limited to, obtaining suitable references and medical clearance prior to commencement.

Chosen Hill School is an equal opportunities employer.

Chosen Hill School is a successful Academy located in the rural environment of Churchdown, half way between Gloucester and Cheltenham.  Chosen Hill is a happy school, where students, staff and parents work closely in partnership.  Self-belief, aspiration and mutual respect are key drivers in the pursuit of a culture of excellence.  Our aim is that every individual will experience success.

Nurture and developing a growth mindset are at the heart of our ethos.  We have the highest expectations of our students, not simply in their progress in learning, but in how they grow as good citizens.  We want our students to be people we would be proud to know as our family, friends and neighbours.  When our young people go out into the world, we want them to make a very positive difference.  The ethos of the school is that we all help and look out for one another.

We believe that all schools have a duty to develop student's grit and resilience and help them develop skills and confidence to meet challenge, cope with pressure and really work hard.  Our vision for the school is that we become exemplary - that we become a school that others want to learn from and with.  We are striving for a culture of excellence, that we can build on for all the generations of students to come.
