This advert has been extended as the Governing Body want to invite any prospective candidates to have the opportunity to visit the school for an Open Day.

Previous candidates need not apply as the short listing process has yet to take place.

Applications are invited from dynamic, experienced, and suitably qualified teachers for the post of Headteacher of this Community focused secondary School. The school provides education for boys and girls between the ages of eleven and sixteen. There are currently 680 pupils on roll, including a special resource base which forms an integral part of the school.

Risca Community Comprehensive School is located in the town of Risca near Newport and in close proximity to the M4.

The school has recently been inspected and the report was published on the 28th November 2022

Governors see this as an exciting challenge for an enthusiastic and skilful leader. They are eager to appoint someone who has:

  • Good experience of providing for pupils with significant additional learning needs;

The Governors will provide good support for the successful candidate who will demonstrate a strong commitment to working closely with them to provide high quality leadership and the best possible education for children. 

Candidates are invited to attend an Open Day on the 31st January 2023 at 10am.

Closing date for applications is: 9th February 2023

Shortlisting will take place on: 15th February 2023

Interviews will be held on: 16th March 2023 and 17th March 2023

About Risca Community Comprehensive School

Risca Community Comprehensive School is a mixed, non-selective, non-denominational secondary school in Gwent serving students from the age of 11-16. The secondary school, situated in Risca has approximately 409 students on roll.

Risca Community Comprehensive School was opened in 1977 by Queen Elizabeth. The campus is also home to Risca Leisure Centre and the Risca Flying Start Childcare Centre.
