Job overview

The Governing Body is seeking to appoint an ambitious and inspirational Headteacher to build upon the school’s strengths and continue the considerable progress made over recent years.

Haggerston School is a mixed school judged ‘good’ by OFSTED in March 2013.

That OFSTED report noted: “the school has gone from strength to strength since the last inspection. Students now make good progress and almost all achieve well.” The school is in a strong position - our latest GCSE and A2 results were the best ever in the school’s history, with two consecutive cohorts achieving above national outcomes. But we continue to aim for much higher achievements for all.

This is an exciting opportunity for the successful candidate to work together with the Governing Body to shape the school’s future and lead us through the next exciting stage in its development.

We are looking for someone with:

  • outstanding leadership skills capable of inspiring the school’s strong senior leadership team and staff
  • a willingness to embrace and capacity to deliver change whilst navigating through the changing educational landscape
  • ambition to achieve and maintain outstanding status for the school
  • strength, resilience, flexibility, a commitment to succeed and a relish for challenge
  • highly effective communication and interpersonal skills
  • enthusiasm and joy at working in Hackney’s diverse community

For an informal discussion please contact Barry O’Brien, the Chair of Governors, at bobrien@jefferies.com

A tour of the school is available on Wednesday 19th October at 9.00am. To arrange a visit please contact the school’s HR Manager at tony.maggio@haggerston.hackney.sch.uk

Download the application pack from the school’s website or you can request a pack by contacting the HR Department at recruitment@haggerston.hackney.sch.uk. Application forms can also be returned to HR via email.

Application closing date: 31st October 2016, 12 noon
Interview and assessments: 16th & 17th November 2016
