Testbourne is a thriving 11-16 comprehensive school with a record of very good academic achievement. In 2016 71% of pupils achieved 5+ A*-C grades inc. English and mathematics with 80.8% in mathematics and 77% in English. We were judged outstanding at our last Ofsted inspection in November 2010. “Children are proud of the school and confident in their teachers.” - Ofsted 2010

The Governors wish to appoint a headteacher to build on this excellent progress and continue to improve this high performing school.  We are looking for a leader with flair and imagination who will value the school’s staff and pupils and inspire them to excel.  The successful candidate will have

  • experience of achieving high standards in education
  • the vision and skill to lead further improvements in teaching and learning
  • a commitment to an inclusive approach for the school and its community.

The school serves the town of Whitchurch and the surrounding area and is within easy reach of Winchester, Newbury, Basingstoke and Southampton with good transport links to the M3 and A34 and a fast rail link to London. Whitchurch is situated on the River Test and surrounded by picturesque rolling countryside. Much of this charming town is a conservation area and contains many listed and notable buildings.

Testbourne Community School, an 11-16 comprehensive school with an extremely able cohort, is an Outstanding School (Ofsted 2010) which provides a forward thinking, outward looking and vibrant learning environment. In 2021, our TAG Attainment 8 score was 56.43 and 67% achieved a grade 5+ in English and Maths. 84% of students achieved 4+ in English and Maths which is a fantastic achievement.
